Thin-kerf blades are at the core of what we do. Although it is not new to the industry, Wood-Mizer established it as the industry standard. A blade that is around .045"-.055" thick will produce much more usable lumber and less sawdust than a circular blade around 1/4"–3/8" thick. As a matter of fact, with proper sawing techniques, you can get the lumber yield of 4 logs from just 3 logs and produce up to 60% less sawdust. That's some serious savings. You will also save on cost since thin-kerf blades are cheaper than traditional blades, are easier to maintain, and require less horsepower–which means less fuel and less emissions. It all adds up to an efficient, economical, and eco-friendly sawing operation.
