Every other year we find ourselves in the midst of extraordinary projects submitted
into the Personal Best contest. Some are major structures. Some are finely crafted
projects. Some are destined to become family heirlooms. More importantly, though,
each and every one is a dream realized.
It is hard to imagine a sawmill can make such an impact on people's lives. As a matter of
fact, we are humbled by it everyday as we hear how our customers have made their dreams
come true. In the same sense, we never underestimate the ability of our Wood-Mizer sawmill
owners to build exceptional things. Last year, one of our winners said, "Constructing a
structure you're proud of is one thing. Constructing a structure you're proud of from wood
you've cut from raw materials is entirely different." That is such a powerful statement and
anyone who has taken a log to lumber to finished project can relate.
That is exactly why this contest exists. We want to recognize our sawmill operators
for their achievements and triumphs. Our team of judges gave scores for creativity/
originality, complexity, quality of workmanship, and the overall use of the Wood-Mizer
sawmill. Selecting the winners is no easy task; but we are thrilled to share their stories
with you. This was truly another memorable contest. Enjoy the following stories,
