The Warmth of Sawing
Kim Eagles built a work barn to shelter his Wood-Mizer LT40 Super Hydraulic sawmill because of the harsh winters in River Glade, New Brunswick, Canada.
"I began my business in 1995 doing portable sawing and planning," Kim says. "My business seemed to be leaning more towards selling lumber from our yard."
It was obvious he needed a place to work inside. He cut 24,000 board feet of poplar and Eastern white cedar, and completed the structure in just under a year, doing most of the work himself. "The main structure is conventionally framed and insulated," he says.
Since then, he's added a horse stall and dust collection system.
"I am very thankful to have such a useful building, especially during the cold and stormy days of winter," Kim says. "I am also pleased it is attractive to the eye."
So attractive, that it gains Kim new customers when passers-by stop to admire the building and ask how to get one like it. |
