Resawed Scrap Lumber Transformed into Childhood Treasure

Phil Hamilton's granddaughter wanted a rocking horse for her birthday. And with some leftover rough red oak and skilled craft work, he was able to grant her wish.

Phil says his original plan was to make the horse out of laminated plywood, but he had an excess of rough oak. He re-sawed about 30 board feed of it for the rocking horse body. He also sawed oak veneer for the rocker assembly.

The horse's final dimensions are 62" long by 36" high. It seems like a perfect fit for a
little girl who owes her grandpa a big hug for his 300 hours of work.

"I am very satisfied with the way this turned out. Without my Wood-Mizer, I would not have attempted this project."
