The Family "Honey Hut"

If you find yourself traveling down a lush, green, wooded path in Woodland, Washington, you might stumble across Brian Trembley’s Honey Hut. For more than two years, and with the help of his family and Wood-Mizer LT70, a simple project grew and grew.

“Instead of a 10’x10’ shed on pier blocks, I ended up with a two story, 12’x18’ monster with concrete footing.” Brian and his family enjoy entertaining guests over dinner, and sometimes a card game or two.

One important feature of The Honey Hut is that it utilizes local species of wood, and everything had to be hand-carried through the woods to the
building site. All the siding came from one old growth Douglas fir log, and is almost knot free.

His family is proud of the work Brian has done. His daughter, Ember, shares her thoughts as well. “[My dad] has wonderful ideas for projects. I can’t believe that The Honey Hut is actually finished! For my dad to complete a project of this magnitude is amazing.”

Murphy's Handiwork - British Columbia
For the last 20 years, Murphy Pottage has supported his family by sawing customer logs. He bought a small mill originally to build a house, but then found there was a market for local lumber in his area. He now has close to 10,000 hours on his newest mill, the LT70. He has specialized in staying mobile and being able to saw in remote locations. He can saw 2,000 bd. ft. of lumber a day, and estimates that his mill is running 5-7 hours daily.

Mead Brook Farm, Kenneth Geraghty - New Hampshire
Mead Brook Farm is a state-of-the-art equestrian complex, where Kenneth Geraghty used his LT70 and twin blade edger to produce lumber for almost the entire facility. He says that their arenas, sawmill building, pasture fencing, bridges and more were all "built with timber grown, cut, and milled on the premises." A total of 150,000 board feet milled from the LT70 was used in the facility's construction, and Kenneth estimated that he saved over $100,000 by using a the sawmill. Thousands of fence posts and fence boards were milled onsite for constructing the extensive arenas and pastures. "Wood-Mizer's renowned reliability enabled us to work with maximum uptime even during the harsh New Hampshire winter, keeping the project on the tight timeline and enabling us to open sooner."
